Crawdad Chronicles 59.02 - Steven Flannery Dominates in early season

New Orleans is off to a great start in 2059. A .620 winning percentage, extrapolated to the entire season would be the 4th best season in New Orleans modern day history.

There are lots of reasons for their success, but few more compelling than SP Steven Flannery.

Flannery is 7-0, with a 1.93 ERA and 0.84 WHIP. In his 4th year in New Orleans, the 32 year old has gotten better every year.

After starting his career as a closer in Atlantic City, and a brief stint as a reliver in Omaha, New Orleans took a HUGE risk and signed him to a 5 year $71M contract in 2055 and immediatly moved him into the starting rotation, a position he had only 2 career starts, both with Omaha.

In 2056 he was average, making GM Jim Roberts look foolish. 13-12, 4.40 ERA. Then in 2057 he went 12-13 with a 4.24 ERA and made his first (and only) all start game. Then in 2058, he started clicking. He finished 18-9 with a 3.82 ERA and was a Landis finalist.

Now in 2059 he looks dominant. He has one year left on his monster deal. And he is looking every bit the part.

Ya - it’s not intentional. But there certainly has been a large number of guys that I’ve made this play with.
