Offensively, the 1999 version of the New Orleans Crawdads is something to marvel at. They are #1-3 in the Frick League for every offensive category (except Strikeouts). Lindsay Jacquinto was Player of the Week. Reggie Morales was Player of the Month. Offensively, New Orleans can compete with any team in the league.
But on the Mound...New Orleans is struggling. A team ERA over 5. Bullpen ERA even worse. Opponents are hitting .294 against. New Orleans made a strong run at some pitching this offseason, but came up empty. If they dont come up with a big-time hole-filler soon...this is going to be another long year in the Big-Easy.
Oh, and as for strikeouts...with Pepper Brooks on his way to Montreal, the player single-handedly responsible for nearly 20% of the teams strikeouts is gone. New Orleans should see some improvement in this arena as well.
