In Game 2 of Des Moines 2063 opening series, 'Le Métronome' (Garth Dobbs) had his second disappointing—and short—start of the season, and allowed five runs in under three innings for his second outing. Everett Sutphin, a reliever success story, who came over to the DMO for another Abdul, pitched 3.2 innings of excellent relief, as he heads toward topping his 6th-in-the-league total of 14 holds of '62. Oscar O'Halloran got the win for Omaha, er, you know who I mean. Ken'ichi Okubo had two hits and two bases-on-balls for the home team; he has a 1.309 OPS after six games. Final: 6-2 a the Brownies notched their first win. Hopefully not into a tree.

Micah Harrington Jersey Giveaway Day A Success!
In Game 3, the Kernels got 14 hits and scored 10 runs on zero home runs. Alonso Flinn led the charge with three hits; Huckleberry is now hitting .444 (12 for 27) through six games. We hope his injuries days are behind him. Meanwhile, Micah Harrington (pictured) finally collected his first win in a Kernels outfit: he pitched 8 innings, throwing 103 pitches, allowing one run on two hits; he walked five and struck out nine to take home the Player-of-the-Game Token. He even took home one of the "MH" promotional jerseys.
The jerseys were awarded to the first 50,000 fans entering through the styles—and what do you know?—that suited everybody but 170 latecomers. To turn the whole evening on its head—Jibwa Smortningaling—head groundskeep and PR Officer, raffled off a jersey—and here we are talking a bovine—among the 170, and—incredible as it may seem—the winner was—wait for it—Buster Buttercow, of Decorah, Iowa. The offensive exploits are to numerous to enumerate. Every batter but Parreno got a hit. UTL Román González got his first ML hit: he singled in the seventh—pinch hitting for Carl McLeod—knocking in Masakado Matsunaga and Wan-ling Koo, chasing Kunimichi Saito, and upping the score to 10-1. Steven Flannery lost.
