All-Star 2b Miguel 'Thrillseeker' Martínez (4.0 WAR) has been sold along with last year's RHML (AAA) GL Steve Garvey, Jr. Batter Award Winner and RHML (AAA) GL Platinum Stick Award Winner at Catcher, Pablo Gonzáles for $333,333 American, as 21-y.o. Jesús Rosito, who started 43 games last season at second, may start as many as 143 this season. The DMO also has a handful of other talented mid-fielders bubbling up through the system.
MM, who has had a turbulent standing in Des Moines since his acquisition two and a half years ago, a history which includes his immediate refusal to re-up, consequently being left off the Kernels 2060 Geoghegan roster, then coaxed by his agent to re-sign to Des Moines...thing settled down last season with the "Thrillseeker" having one of his best seasons before going 1 for 14 in the '62 Geoghegan against Hawaii, and then tearing a thumb ligament the last day of Spring Training last week... well, when contacted by industrious Gm Sean Marko of PHX, the Kernels JRamirez—who with Davidson and and Pitzer solid backups for Matsunaga— earlier in the week had shown an interest in selling Gonzáles, something Marko wanted a year ago...well, the DMO has knocked $7mm off its salaried roster.
