The DMO has acquired SP Micah Harrington (92-83, 4.24 lifetime in 238 starts) and 3B Dwight 'Snuffy' Pound in exchange for their 2062 IAFA, the 16-y.o. 2B Ricky Fults, who cost $4mm to sign. Some of that expenditure will be recovered, as New Orleans has agreed to retain 50% of Harrington's contract over three seasons.
Despite the trade and a recent strained back, Harrington didn't miss a start. He threw 90 innings in his first start as a Piping Hot™ Kernel, and he allowed two hits and two runs at Madison. He got the loss, as Des Moines was not able to turn eight singles and double into more than one run. Harrington expects to remain in the starting rotation even as Arnold Cantrell returns from the IL. Pound has been assigned to El Paso, but we could see him surface to the ML down the stretch.
