Team batting average leader for the whole season, Alonso 'Huckleberry' 'Haiku' Flinn (.320-14-54) is out again. For the second time in five weeks he's pulled up injured running the bases. "Sounds like a candidate for the Development Center this offseason," team trainer Arturo Durán said.
"Durán might find himself in the D-Lab," JRamirez wired in from Don't-Bother-Me, Alaska. "Or worse. That's the fifth injury for Haiku this season, not the second!"
Flinn played through some earlier injuries and even had a shot at 162 starts at first, but that strategy has crumbled. His current WAR (1.8) is nine times higher than his rookie year last season in 127 starts.
"Would like to keep him healthy, he's my first draft pick, after all," JR said.
Just like last time, rookie Carl McLeod (.321-4-10) is expected to fill in for Flinn in the interim. "Good thing Montreal expressed no interest in him when we asked earlier this week... Though they needed hitters." *shrug*
Then there's that damn Bane McCoy. Couldn't stay healthy here. In Charm City, different tale.
