
Eric Cross has signed a five-year extension as manager of the Single-A Portsmouth Vikings. With the earlier extension of the same length to RL manager Ken Jones, this leaves no personnel with contracts ending at the end of the '62 season.
Cross is a largely unknown who started his managerial career in 2060 for Portsmouth. He guide the Vikings to a 71-69 record. In 2061 his W-L record was 88-52 and the Vikings finished in first place. The team was 7th in runs scored despite being 25th in home runs 2oth in batting average. As a player, Cross spent seven years in the minors. His highlights include two grand slams and a five-hit game.
Rodrigo Martinez, hitting coach, was promoted to Short-A Coco Cay, and the search continues to fill the only vacant spot in the panoply of coaches in the DMO (Des Moines Organization).
