Magana's agent says watch this guy against Bikini's crystal-arm dude, "Ricardo's gonna tee-off on [Paul] Glass and sennem righ-back-ta Midland-Odessa" (Texas).

Twenty-year-old LHB Ricardo Magana (OVR 4/11/7) has been called up to Des Moines and will replace Carlos Rodríguez (5/8/8) as starting designated hitter versus righties. Rodríguez, optioned to Triple-A El Paso, was hitting .385 with three home runs his last nine games; he hit 31 homers last season for the Kernels (tied with Okubo for third). Magana is the DMO's 2061 first round pick (19th overall). He has been plugged into the clean-up spot in the lineup versus RHP and will be a pinch hitter and back-up outfielder against lefties.
Magana's expected platoon partner, DM's #1 pick in the April draft, Jon Scaife (OVR 3/10/6), has not yet inked a contract despite being offered $100K more than his demand ($1.81M). Until he arrives, Davidson, Thistle, and rookie Domingo Pinto—about to make his ML debut—will revolve as DH versus non-righties.
The team's #2 and 3 picks LHH-OF Santiago Pacheco (POT 7/5/6) and LHRP Lorenzo Souza are also expected to sign contracts this week.
