Kernel of Truth 62.19 - MPR covers the illegally-called game at Chicago

The game on April 9th was illegally called, when it should have been resumed at a later date. The Kernels were in town the following two days, and in addition there is another series at Chicago on the schedule. The Kernels had runners on first and second, these were the tying and winning runs, and Matsunaga was up. Chicago had lost six in a row, and DM had the clear momentum: they had already scored two runs in the inning. Chicago had loaded the bases via walks; this might have been a sign that they could not get a good grip on the ball, but JR says these Chicago pitchers are used to flinging the baseball with all kinds of substances. In addition, the game was called at 6 in the evening, with no assurance that the little bit of precipitation would last into the night, i.e, until official curfew.

The twin Ramirez sisters, nieces of JRamirez, have written a letter to Chicago sports personality "The Beef," when one sister was in a coma and the other at her bedside. See previous Teams News.

As if to add insult to injury, the league called another game, Friday, April 14th, after TWC scored two in the bottom of the 6th. No opportunity was given for DM to match those runs. Again, the right thing to do is to resume the game at a later date.
