Kernel of Truth 62.03 - Kage Match cancelled

Post by JRamirez » Fri Jan 24, 2025 10:39 pm

The highly-anticipated Kage Match between pitchers Arnold Cantrell and Scott Everard was cancelled when the DMO found room for both hurlers on its 2062 payroll. Cantrell's option was picked up for '62 and Everard was given a three-year extension despite a hard-luck 2061 season. "Scotty's gonna bounce back to 2060 form," Tristan Barber (pc) said. In '60 Everard posted a 1.03 WHIP and 17 saves in 28 games for the Kernels. Last season, as the league's Silver Goat, is one he wants to forget. "It's already forgotten," Barber said. "The contract proves that." Cantrell, meanwhile, is expected to opt for free agency after the team declined to offer an extension last month.

The Kage was sent back to the WWE. The Kum & Go Kourtyard was set to make a big splash with that event. Cantrell and Everard instead will head a kite-flying demonstration. Kites, hell, make that drones.

Meanwhile, the Kernels look forward to a 2062 campaign in which they hope to be in the thick of the playoff hunt. The grass will be in its second year, and groundskeeper Jibwa Smortningaling has received a pay raise.
