Kernel of Truth 59.02 - DM drafts OF Alonso Flinn & Latest IEF Map

Post by JRamirez » Wed May 08, 2024 9:54 am

Rookie GM JRamirez and team rep Walter Wilhelm, Jr (who's also the owner's son and probable heir apparent) had missed the herd of bison grazing peaceably in northwest Iowa, and had landed in southwestern Minnesota, not far from...in fact, readers, they had landed in the Matrix, a couple miles out of Sioux Falls, SD, where the four great states of Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and the greatest among them, Iowa, coincide. The Iowa occupation, that is, liberation of Sioux Falls by the IEF (Iowa Expeditionary Force), "for the good of the people," had ended. In addition, the state of Iowa agreed to replace the militaristic and now former DMGM Josh Davidoff with a "peace-keeping" GM chosen from the South. In the middle of the turmoil, for war was still awaging in this Matrix-y place, new GM Ramirez and Wilhelm had to act by sleuth to reach Des Moines and Edward Murphy Memorial Stadium.

Weaving their way through the bison, the league office squawked to Ramirex via his classic Google watch:

LO: Draft!

JR: Huh?

LO: Draft. Your up!

JR: Kinda in a pickle here.

LO: Draft
JR: Or buffalo chip or...
LO: Draft
LO: By tonight!
LO: Or your out!

Long story short (thank God!), rookie GM JRamirez forwarded these texts to Asst GM Thibaud Guillard in Des Moines. So, it was Guillard, and not me, who decided on the 6'3" Garland, TX native, outfielder Alfonso Finn, as the team's 2059 first round pick. So, yeah, I'm waiving responsibility! The quality of possible picks seemed to have plummeted, like a meteor in the Iowa sky, a few rounds before.

Finn was one of a half dozen batters with a POT 8 contact. That and his 5 EYE and decent speed, attracted me, er, Guillard. We coulda, and maybe shoulda, taking more of a risk with a low-contact, high power kid. As for pitching, the Kernels seem to have better guys in the minors than in the pool.
