2061.1 Omaha Hires new Manager

Post by handaspencer » Mon Oct 14, 2024 12:16 pm

At the conclusion of the regular season a tough decision needed made in Omaha. Julian Negrete and Omaha mutually agreed to part ways. Negrete spent the last 10 years on Omaha and made the playoffs 4 of those seasons. Negrete said I just felt like my time was done and a new voice was needed for this great organization. I have nothing but great things to say about the Omaha organization and some of my favorite years managing was in Omaha. GM Spencer said we was hoping he would return but we also believe sometimes just getting a new voice in the clubhouse can be a positive. We are extremely thankful for the great run Negrete gave us. We wish him the best going forward.

With the departure of Negrete the club moved quickly and signed Sylvester Reed to a 5 year deal in Omaha. Reed spent the last 5 season as the manager of the Chicago Black Sox. Reed also spent 6 season in Nashville where he won the Brewster in his second season 2050. GM Spencer said Reed felt like the perfect manager for our rebuilding situation. To bring in a manager to this organization who has won a title gives him instant credibility with our younger guys. His strengths are development, and defense which is right in line where we are heading over the next couple seasons. You can have a room full of great manager candidates but the hard part is finding out which candidate is the right fit for your current situation and we believe we have found that match in Reed GM Spencer said.

Our first item of business is to look over the staff and see who will return next season. We plan on starting on that immediately to build the best staff around us as possible. We expect our staff and players to work hard. I am excited to come to a great organization like Omaha and help return them to their winning ways. Omaha has such a strong history of making the playoffs and I cant wait to return this club to the playoffs. Every guy is getting a fresh start here, I want lots of competition next spring.
