Emilio Morales has a career first.(44.34)

On the heels of the trade deadline, Omaha thought they had most of their positions locked in with little need to make a big move. Well, cross that off as now a member of the starting lineup who has never seen the disabled list in his entire career which spans almost 8,000 at bats finds himself in unfamiliar territory.

That’s right.

Emilio Morales joins Raul Gonzalez on the injury list and will likely miss the remainder of the regular season, with a very small chance of returning at the end of the month to attempt a late push.

Morales suffered a fractured foot after being hit by a pitch when facing the Sacramento Mad Popes on the 31st of August.

If Morales fails to return this year, he will finish the regular season with a .247/.284/.499 triple slash along with 35 home runs and 74 runs batted in. His .499 slugging percentage will be his first sub .500 slugging percentage since the 2033 season when his slugging percentage was .455. The 2033 season was the first season the club was in Omaha.

Thankfully the club acquired Yasutoki Sato at the beginning of April of this season. Sato is expected to be given full time duties over the next 3-4 weeks. For the season Sato is batting .264/.343/.440 with a 107+ OPS through 105 plate appearances. The 107+ OPS currently outranks Morales who sits at 101+.
Of course 105 plate appearances is a very small sample size and Sato’s career BBA OPS+ is 56.
