With many giving their attention to the Morales home run watch, and the other half of Cyclone fans just happy the team has a winning record, it’s maybe worth pointing out some other Cyclone players who are within striking distance of career milestones.
Orlando Ordonez, the 24 year old starting center fielder for Omaha who looks to be putting it together finally is just 1 home run shy of hitting his 200th career home run. Ordonez resigned with Omaha this year on a 4 year, fully guaranteed $51,880,000 contract that runs through 2048.
Jimmy Starks Jr, the longtime Cyclone player who is the only remaining members from the Indy Grasshoppers franchise, needs 14 home runs in order to reach the 200 home-run mark. Ordonez has had his playing time dropped significantly over the past few seasons, and is a pending free agent who is likely to not reach that 200 mark with Omaha.
James Monger, Omaha’s longtime second baseman, needs 60 runs in order to reach 1,000. Monger has already crossed one milestone this year, hitting home run number 315 for his career at the age of 31. Monger is signed through the 2046 season although he does have a opt out after the 2045 season. Omaha is the only franchise he has known after being selected 2nd overall in the 2033 draft. Speaking of Monger, he also is within 97 RBI of reaching 1,000 career RBI.
As a bonus entry, Pat MacRurie, who has been in Omaha’s minor league system and at AAA since 2040, is within 18 home runs of hitting career number 200 at AAA however he is still far behind AAA home run leader Haku A'amakualenalena's 249.

Monger and Starks, Jr. have been as Omaha as Morales, really. Breaking up the band feels like the end of an era.
