So far, so good for Juan Ruiz in Cyclone debut.(44.32)

Juan Ruiz was finally called up to Omaha on June 30th after spending all season pitching in AAA waiting for either an injury at the BBA level or for the Omaha front office to get off their Runza eating asses and kick either Stephen Clulow or Jose Lima out of the rotation.

Since being called up June 30th, Ruiz has done very well. He is 5-0 with a 3.78 ERA. He has pitched 47 innings in 8 starts, and if you ignore his FIP looks like a fantastic pitcher to occupy the back end of the Omaha rotation for seasons to come.

At 24 years old and the struggle the past 2 seasons in Nashville, it’s refreshing for Omaha fans to see Ruiz have some success early on. Those teams he has faced haven’t been the pushovers of the league either. He debuted against Madison, and was thrown out of the game his second start for a brawl with Des Moines. Since those first two starts, Ruiz has taken the mound against San Fernando(7.1 IP, 1 ER, W), Louisville(6 IP, 4 ER, W), Hawaii(8 IP, 2 ER, W), and Chicago(6.1 IP, 2 ER, W). Of course, he got blown up by Valencia (5 IP, 6 ER) in the middle of all that. But those 4 teams that he beat were all very solid teams with quite a bit of offense.

While there was certainly some hesitancy on calling him up as Omaha wasn’t sure of his “readiness” even at age 24, that question appears to be answered early on as Omaha may be able to rely on Ruiz to be the clubs 5th starter for the next half decade.

Other than that, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?

I plan to change that this sim. We’ll call it payback for Wood.

Well, at least I got to Ruiz. The other two games didn't matter to us.
