MARQUETTE, MI (AP) - So here we are almost two and a half months into the 2017 season and the Suns are 14 games back of the reigning champs, the New Orleans Crawdads. There wasn't much hope this season for Marquette but there still was that tiny glimmer of hope that this team could make a run at the playoffs. In the end though, thats all it was.... hope.
The offense has been horrendous, batting a measly .260 which is good for 12th in the league. "It's obviously not what we are capable of." Head Coach Bruce Bochy said. "We have to work through it." The scoring hasn't been good either. The Suns are currently ranked 12th in that stat as well. "It's frustrating because we are giving it our all and just not getting the results." Suns catcher Eric Melton said.
To be fair though, this team is in a rebuild. And despite the season there are a few bright spots. Leon Sandcastle has easily been having the best season on the team. The 21 year old CF is hitting .352/.396/.474 this season and is quickly making a name for himself and he isn't afraid to admit it, either. "Thats what I do." Sandcastle boasted. He certainly has the confidence and thats important for a player especially on a team playing badly. Hopefully Sandcastle can spread that around the clubhouse and get this team going.
