After a bit of phone tag and some text messages, a deal was struck. Montreal will send $50,000 to Des Moines for the rights to Rodríguez, despite the protestations of owner John Percolo, Jr., who is concerned about what he considers a flagrant lack of fiscal propriety on the part of the GM team.

Carlos Rodríguez
Rodríguez, 27, bats left-handed, with a batting line of .264/.376/.472 (132 OPS+) this season against right-handed BBA pitching. In 626 career plate appearances in the BBA, he has hit .250/.339/.505 (131 OPS+). He was originally selected out of junior college by Des Moines in the sixth round of the 2057 amateur draft. He can play corner outfield in a pinch, but his range is lacking. He has average contact skills but plus power and a developing batting eye that could be elite someday.
With one remaining option, it is expected that the Blazers will assign him to AAA, but first they will need to clear a 40-man spot.
