Montreal hit two grand slams on its way to a 20-4 win in Austin, but all manager Paul 'Scholsy' Scholes wanted to know was "Where was that offense yesterday," referring to the previous day's 2-6 loss. "Games like today are fun, but we need to be more consistent. Even when we face a good pitcher, we need to give our own pitchers some run support."
All-Stars Jaime Serna and Denes Terovolas hit the grand slams. Three others homered, including both catchers; Pablo Trevino hit a pinch-hit home run in the ninth as Scholes emptied his bench in the blowout.
The Blazers lineup has recently been reinforced with the return of shortstop Reynaldo Serrano and the arrival of long-time prospect Jedidiah Marzuq. Marzuq, playing right field, is hitting .353/.389/.647 (198 OPS+) in 36 plate appearances with two doubles, a triple, two homers, and three steals. It's still early, but it's an encouraging sign for the Blazers, who moved Manny Burgus to DH to make room in the lineup for Marzuq. It feels like he is here to stay this time around.
