Artemis Theodopoulos
Theodopoulos, 21, is 6'10". He throws three very pedestrian pitches, fastball-cutter-changeup, but projects with an elite ability to keep the ball in the park, a priority for Montreal. He projects with plus control. His fastball sits at 93-95 mph. He seems equally comfortable facing batters of either hand. He is adept at shutting down the running game. Last season in Single-A he made 22 starts, going 6-12 with a 5.72 ERA (72 ERA+).
The headliner for Chicago is 22-year-old AA first baseman Jim Brown. He rarely strikes out and projects with solid all-around batting tools. Scouts question his work ethic, however. Last season in Single-A he hit .273/.407/.313 (101 OPS+). Brown was selected out of high school by Montreal in the tenth round of the 2061 amateur draft.
Also heading to Chicago is left-handed 1B/LF Roberto Medrano. The 19-year-old projects with plus contact and power, both into the gaps and over the fence. Last season in short season A, he hit .258/.293/.430 (105 OPS+). Medrano was selected out of high school by Montreal in the ninth round of the 2061 amateur draft.
The final piece for Chicago is 22-year-old left-handed starting pitcher Johnston Sorenson. He has a repertoire of five pitches, including a plus-plus fastball that sits at 97-99 mph and a plus slider. Last season in Single-A he started 23 games, going 10-8 with a 3.69 ERA (108 ERA+). Sorenson was selected out of college by Montreal in the 17th round of the 2060 amateur draft.
