Wise Kraken 5.3: Raven Rider on DL

Rather than playing Raven Rider through a herniated disc in his neck, the Carolina Kraken have put him on the disabled list to let him recover. What's interesting about the move isn't so much the fact that the Kraken don't feel the need to keep Rider, who just broke out of his slump in a big way last sim, playing at shortstop; what's interesting is that they CAN.

Carolina used to be incredibly weak in the infield, but now they actually go into the minors deep. Ron Holmes will step in as the starting shortstop. J.T. Revelator could, if they wanted, and so could minor leaguer Mario Garcia.

"It's remarkable how much better our depth charts are than they used to be," said manager Erjan Tijl. "I have so many weapons to call on. It's just great to have all that in my arsenal."

Rider was just starting to break out of his horrendous slump when he got hurt, which was very frustrating for him.

"It's been a tough season so far, but I was getting it together, and now this," said Rider. "I'm just glad the organization cares about my health and is giving me time to recover."
