Frank Jardine returned four months after suffering a torn knee meniscus directly to the San Fernando active roster rather than rehabbing in AAA. The former first round pick has nothing left to prove at that level and we wanted to maximize his major league PAs before the season ends. So far so good, with Jardine slashing .367/.429/.733 while splitting time between second base and the corner outfield. Jardine is competing with Fernando Estrada to be the leader in the clubhouse to start at second base in 2062, not to mention this year's postseason.
We wanted to add another pitcher to our roster and decided to promote career minor leaguer Orhan Atil. Originally a second round pick by Nashville in 2052, Atil signed with San Fernando two offseasons ago as left-handed depth. The 30 year-old Atil spent 2060 in the Brooks bullpen but mostly worked as a starter this year where he had a 2.76 ERA. He's always been a productive minor leaguer and we liked the idea of rewarding a loyal organizational soldier with some mop-up September innings.
After spending four months on the DFA/waivers train without being claimed thanks to his $10M salary, John Dawson is once again pitching out of the Bears' bullpen now that rosters expanded. He's got a 4.50 ERA so far in 6 September games. We continue to assess the possibility of releasing Dawson to clear some cap space.
Felix Ramos returned to the lineup from the IL and we did not make a corresponding move. Brewster veteran Rhys Brickell will stick around as a pinch runner.

Several interesting moves there. Getting Ramos back could be a game changer.
