2060.05: Rummaging Bears - Relief Pitchers

How well are our campers' picnic baskets secured?

Sure-Fire Locks
RP Richard Bullock, RP Hughie Dunstone, RP Morris Chapa

The locks include two lefties and a righty. Bullock has a 3.97 ERA lifetime for the Bears' as their swing man. Dunstone was our offseason free agent investment to get our lefty count up. We think getting him back in the Pacific and focusing on matchups with other southpaws will get him back to the 1.1 WAR version that spent 2058 in Long Beach. Morris Chapa thrived as a reliever in 2059, pitching 68.2 innings with a 3.93 ERA and 0.6 WAR. He can throw multiple innings and attack hitters on either side of the plate.

Near Locks
RP Bob Butler, RP Bryan Longstaff, RP Edmond Thomas, RP Keith Mays

Butler has underperformed and has an option year left but scouts praise his game. Longstaff turned 36 and lost a mph of velocity over the last year. Keith Mays will undergo an actual PPT reward reliever conversion. His fragile injury ratings and bad personality clash with his 11 stamina. By limiting his repertoire to a fastball and a curveball I'm wondering if his platoon splits will even out. This should guarantee he's a weapon at the BBA level.

Trying to Break-In
RP Abban Layar, RP Dvimurdhan Sameer, RP Terence Harris, RP Chris Lacey

Layar is utterly mediocre but I can't quit his 7 movement rating. Harris is the poor man's Layar. If you looked up the definition of cromulent in the dictionary you'd see pictures of Dvimurdhan Sameer and Chris Lacey.

Breaking in the Back Door
RP Jose Castro, RP Robert Carlson, RP Francisco Molina

Castro looks like a strong "reliever conversion" on paper who likely heads to the minors for a few weeks as a numbers casualty. Carlson got a look last season but his results and ratings are too vanilla to keep playing. Molina could see more time if my infield defense oriented approach to 2060 works for other pitchers.

Really happy for Longstaff that he's had a late career resurrection.
