- Starting pitcher Morris Chapa threw a 1-hitter against Bikini on 4/26. In 9 innings of shutout baseball Chapa recorded 1 strikeout and zero walks. In his second season as a full time starter, the 28 year-old Chapa (2.38 ERA) is helping pick up the slack in the Bears' rotation with usual ace Morgan Tomsett's struggles (6.68 ERA).
- On the next night, Sam Fisher made his triumphant return to a Pacific division starting pitcher's mound. It didn't result in a SFB win, but Fisher made a quality start in what was Bikini's first win of the season against a southpaw starter. Fisher had spent his entire career with Vancouver, dating back to his BBA debut in 2051, up to this point. 'The Assassin' didn't become a regular member of the Mounties' rotation until age 31 but over the last four years he threw 672.1 innings to the tune of a 3.40 ERA. Fisher will make $1M this season after signing a split contract during the spring and join Richard Bullock as a swing-man in San Fernando's bullpen capable of spot starting against teams that struggle with left-handed pitching.
- Ben Weaver will miss 8 weeks with a sore shoulder. He'd been moderately effective as a middle reliever. Look for Orhan Atil--who was just demoted to make room for Fisher--to rejoin the BBA bullpen in Weaver's spot. That will now give the Bears five lefties in their bullpen.
