Rolling the Dice 95.1 - Season Review - The Bad.

Post by braveheart » Sat Jun 12, 2010 7:33 am

I seem to recall 1995 going a little differently the first time around.

The 1995 Gamblers did only one thing well - and it wasnt win. The club belted 180 homeruns, thanks to 4 players smacking 23 or more. Aside from that, there were a couple of bright spots, which we will address later. In this TN, we will discuss the poor spots.

1. Offense. There are 12 MBBA teams. Of them, the Gamblers ranked 12th in offense. Id say things can only get better from here. The club was last in BA, second to last in OBP and 3rd to last in SLG.
2. Starters. There are 12 MBBA teams. The Gamblers ranked 12th in ERA with a 4.83 mark. Id say things can only get better from here. From the starters, we did rank 11th overall, so there is someplace we can go but up. We allowed the most hits, had the worst BABIP and amassed the 2nd lowest amount of Ks in the MBBA.
3. Bullpen. There are 12 MBBA teams. The Gamblers ranked 12th in ERA with a 4.83 mark. Id say things can only get better from here. From the bullpen, we did rank 11th overall, so there is someplace we can go but up. Our pen ERA was 4.89, with only NEw Orleans being worse.
4. The clubs best month was May, when we were ONLY 3 games under .500.
5. We had a winning record against only 2 of the other 11 MBBA teams. Thanks NO and DM!
6. We *only* lost 18 million bucks last year, putting us in a negative position to start 1996 and the offseason. Free agent help? No we have a big fat $0 lined up for that.
7. Our owner is pissed off. He expected us to play .500. I;d like to say he has a sense of humor, but he doesnt.
8. He flubbed 117 balls. For comparison Hackensack made 69 errors.
9. Our best starter in 1995 - Samuel Smith will miss the next 8-9 months due to injury. See you in 1997!
10 .Futility. We have the worst modern day error record in MBBA history!

I could go on, but Im depressed and breakfast is ready.

Next TN should have some positiives, if I can find any.

Whats left after offense, pitching, defense, and finances?
