Atlantic City Press Vol. 3

Post by cyrisnyte » Tue Jan 17, 2012 2:36 pm

It's that time of year where we will check in and see what is happening with our beloved Gamblers in the Atlantic here in the Frick League.

In first place at 47-32 we find the Montreal Blazers. The Blazers are an offensive juggernaut having a .306 team batting average which leads the MBWBA. Montreal also shows amazing patience at the plate, striking out only 409 times which is an incredible 61 times less than the next closest team. The Blazers are lead by all world SS Roman Empire who leads the Blazers with 20 HRs, 75 RBIs all while hitting .405. Just as impressive is the fact that he only has 32 K's with 46 walks all in 311 at bats. While pitching is not the strength of the Blazers, they do lead all teams in the Atlantic with 622 k's.

Next up we have the Carolina Kraken at 44-35. Beware the Kraken, their pitching that is as they have an impressive 3.86 team ERA which is top in the Atlantic, the only team with a sub 4.00 ERA. Jose Mijangos is the Ace on the Carolina squad. He currently sits at 8-3 with a 2.08 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and only allowing 6 HRs over 104 innings. The Kraken struggle with the bats though. They currently lead only the Gamblers with a .264 team batting average and swing at almost anything, leading the Atlantic with 568 strikeouts.

Now we find our Gamblers sitting in third place with a 38-40 record. Just as the record is just below average, so are the Gamblers in every aspect of the game. They are worst in the Atlantic with a sniffling .258 team batting average. Things have gotten so bad there is rumor that the Gamblers are willing to entertain offers for Ross White to build for the future. They can do no better on the mound as well. The team has an Atlantic worst 4.67 team ERA. While the team is not last, the season is not over yet either...

In last place is are the Buffalo Bison at 32-47. The Bison are second to only the Kraken in the Atlantic with a .272 team batting average. Jeremy "Superman" Hunter who leads the team with 11 HRs, 55 RBIs and hitting .365. The Bison also are second in team ERA in the Atlantic with a 4.15. This team seems to have the stats to move ahead of the Gamblers and make a run at the Kraken.

Final Prediction...

1. Blazers
2. Kraken (by less than 3 games over)
3. Bison
4. Gamblers

Almost halfway home...let's see what happens in the Atlantic!

Awesome to see some Gamblers team news, Jeff! Are you thinking about doing any trading?

moving White could be a great move. By the time things gets turned around during a rebuild he will be aging. Don't sell low tho. Ross White is one of the best players in the league.
