Atlantic City Press Vol. 2

Post by cyrisnyte » Sun Oct 23, 2011 9:53 pm

Well, Montreal has jumped out of the gate and are off to a 26-10 start here in the Atlantic. Montreal has some real talent that has helped them notch their 26 wins already. Duane Whitley is on a tear for the Blazers batting .412 with 8 dings and 33 RBIs. More impressive is the fact that in 153 at bats he has only struck out 8 times, helping lead the Blazers to a Frick League best .325 team batting average.

In second place we find the Buffalo Bisons sitting at 15-21 who are lead by their pitching ace Amen "Constantine" Mitrani who is sitting at 5-2, but could easily be 7-0 with a little run support in his 2 losses. His 64 K's tie him for the lead in the Frick league. If Buffalo could get some more offensive production, they would find themselves in a better place. The team has a Frick leading 301 strikeouts when they get up to bat and as one can guess, a league worst 95 bases on balls.

In third is your own Atlantic City Gamblers sitting at a depressing 13-23 which puts them 13.0 games behind Montreal. The Gamblers have put their workload on Ross White and he has done all he can to hold up. He is amongst the Frick League leaders in slugging percentage as well as ops. The problem for the Gamblers is he is on the DL with shoulder tendinitis. The only bright spot for the Gamblers on the mound has been Jim Cramer who sits at 4-4 with a 2.87 ERA. Most impressive has been his ability to not walk anyone, giving up only 4 bases on balls in 59.2 innings pitched.

Nipping at Atlantic City's heels are the Carolina Kraken with a record of 12-24, only 1 game away from not being in the basement. Big man on campus for the Kraken is Larry Sunderland who has a Frick League leading 12 bombs this season while driving in 28 runs. What hurts the Kraken is a huge deficit in pitching. The Kraken have a team ERA of 5.49, second worst in the Frick League but do manage to keep the ball in the park with a second best 28 homeruns allowed.

Well, you can see that we seem to be in a situation where we all know Montreal will be the bride, the only question left is who will be the bride's maid?

I kind of thought MON would take off in this division, but was somewhat muddled due to the OOTP Preseason Predictions which had all four teams finishing below .500.

See? The predictions know nothing. After all, they thought I was going to win 73 games.
