Contract extension negotiations between The Atlantic City Gamblers and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson have gone on all year. The Rock has fluctuated in his demands, however he stuck to his guns on one topic, that he only sign for 3 years. The Gamblers have offered several deals to try and lock the Rock up long term to keep him in a Gambler uniform.
The most electrifying MBBA Superstar has played severe hard ball with the only club he has ever played for, and with good reason. The Rock has seen his production shoot thru the roof, smacking 142 homeruns over the past 4 seasons. He topped the 40 homerun mark for the first thing this year, and he drove in 127 runs, the second straight year he has topped 100 RBI. He has also plated 101 times, the 4th time he has crossed the plate that often. The 28 year old superstar has career marks of 291-354-514, which total an OPS of .868.
In order to get thr Rock to smell what the Gamblers were cooking, they had to increase their initial offer substantially. Despite several attempts to ink the Rock to a 5 year deal, they finally settled on a 4 year agreement. The deal will make the Rock the highest paid Gambler next year at 11.6 mil. He wil earn a 5 mil raise form his current 6.5 mil salary. Then in 2002, he will earn 13.6 mil as the Gamblers hope his production continues to rise. His contract does drop below the 10 mil mark for the 2003 and 2004 seasons.
the rock will be the 20th highest paid player in the MBBA in the 2001 season (barring free agent signings) and if the 2022 season were going on today, The Rock would rank 10th amongst the leagues highest paid annual salaries. I guess the only good thing is that the Rock gives us better production, at half the rate of the highest paid player, Vancouver's Brock Lee. We will take that small morsel with us as the Gmblers look to retool and take the next step from playoff contender to championship contender. If you can smelllllllllalalalalalalala what theRock, is cookin.

I'm thinking you got yourself a bargain.
It probably helped that he had basically his worst season since 1995.
