A lot of pressure was put on Montero after the Mounties failed to sign Jose Vargas and thus traded for the guy Vargas was replacing in Charlotte. Fortunately, Montero did an excellent job in the outfield defensively and also stole a lot of bags. Whilst his batting stats are average and you can make an argument for others to be here, the Mounties are hoping he can hold the spot for the next few years whilst the prospects develop.

The longtime Mounties continues to pitch very well and gets his first ever Robbie Sargent award. Despite the up and down year the team had, Fisher maintained his consistently good pitching performances. It will be interesting to see what happens in the offseason, with Fisher having a $7 million player option, rumors are saying he may be looking for more.

So, Vargas and Montero switch teams and have more or less the same season, each putting up about 3.1 WAR.

Montero did that making $1.2 million and Vargas did that making $20 million.

Still second guessing myself on not taking Vargas up on the $66M/6-year extension seeing how my offense went down the toilet this year.
