2061-18 In all seriousness

Post by Knucklehead254 » Thu Nov 07, 2024 10:24 pm

To describe the atmosphere in my office as palpable would be an understatement. Not sure if anyone has really noticed but the team has been off to a god awful start. We haven't won a single series our first cycle around the tough as hell Pacific division, and we've been swept 4 times. All that has currently lead to a 3-18 record as we come near the end of April. So am I pissed? You can say that. I mean after all we shocked a lot of teams last year with our performance and many had us in a position fighting for a playoff spot. That is seemingly not gonna happen. Which sucks, cause I spent this offseason and made moves to bring in talent around the young nucleus we have on offense and to supplement what was our elite pitching staff. Figured some playoff revenue would help with the potential burns but now it's looking less and less likely each passing sim.

And the injuries? Hasn't been helping. Todd Tatlock suffered a knock to his knee that probably would've been fine by now if my manager Stafford Carter had paid attention to my bench instructions. Now he's suffered a knee sprain and will be out for at least a month. Miguel Montero currently has a sore elbow but he's still been one of our better players at the moment. Sam Fisher has suffered a second injury knocking him out of a game in the first inning (we lost). And Reynaldo Serrano has a day to day injury that is gonna last for... three whole weeks? Christ almighty. But even then the injuries aren't an excuse, we should be way better then what we're showing.

So is there anything to look forward to? Well Rusty Miller is healthy and recent got a bump to some of his pitches and velocity. Could maybe try throwing him in the starting lineup again. A couple of our prospects have been receiving some nice bumps, most notably CF Hector Ruiz. I so wish he was ready because our two options of Shafiq Zahir and Luis Valles is not working out. But who's out there, the CF's currently in the market won't be much of an upgrade if at all.

So at this point what do i do? How long can I say "it's just a slow start" before we end up looking like the 2024 Chicago White Sox? I've been trying to hold off on completely blowing everything up and putting together lineups that probably makes no sense. Usually this is where I'd go into trade mode but I don't think in this case it's going to help. What made me laugh is our owner switched our mentality to Win Now! which I honestly think he just means to win a damn game. Something needs to happen to turn our season around and it needs to happen soon. Otherwise we'll be seeing yet another tear down. At least I have one Top 100 prospect? (Blair Gallard)

Things can only get better. On one note, when you sign a wrecked player, well... I do understand the frustration about the AI not paying attention to your rest-if-injured instructions (although technically it says something like the manager will "do his best" to follow those instructions). It sucks. I had opposite problem couple seasons ago. Told the AI to start Cano, Jr even if moderately injured and it sat him when he had a minor injury! Stupid thing! Setting weekly line ups can theoretically help with some of these things.

Seems to slowly be coming around. Hopefully he’ll keep his starter job next season.
