Picture of ferocious Snatch the Dik Dik
Now unfortunately whilst other Dik Diks are known to be herbivores aka plant eaters, Snatch was born different. He loves his meat and even once chewed up a fellow dik dik just three years ago. So with that in mind, when just a female wanted to get close up and personal with the dik dik. When leaning over the observation glass, the woman slipped and fell into the exhibit. At first she was dazed, but snapped out of it when Snatch began to make his way towards her. Excited, she reached out to touch Snatch, but Snatch growled back and began to chase her around the habitat.
All hope had seen lost for her until a brave figure jumped into the exhibit and did a super hero like landing. It was none other than Vancouver Mounties pitcher Rusty Miller, who was visiting the zoo with several Mounties teammates. He immediately began to make his way towards Snatch, who in turn began to run towards Miller. Before everyone knew it, the two were brawling inside the exhibit.
"I've never seen anything like it, the way he was grabbing on to the dik dik." said one witness.
Eventually, Snatch grabbed at tree branch with his mouth and began to charge towards the female, who was so shocked in what she was seeing she hadn't moved. Suddenly Miller jumped in front of her and threw one of "the most wicked uppercuts i've ever seen" at the explosive Dik Dik. It connected, and Snatch went down. The dik dik was now unconscious enough where finally staff rom the zoo too busy watching the fight jumped in and contained Snatch. He had saved the young woman, but at a cost. You see the punch had been so powerful it broke Rusty's right hand, his throwing hand.
"It'll take some time to heal but we're proud of how Rusty represented the Mounties with his heroism." commented Mounties GM Aaron Wharram.
It's unclear what will happen to the crazed dik dik but there are rumours that he will be sent over to the Nashville Zoo.
