Some say that they starting rotation of the AA Jamestown squad is every bit as good as the rotation of its AAA Mars counterparts. The Valencia front office is hoping a few of these pitchers fit into the big-league grand scheme of things in 2065 and beyond.
Lawrence Ross OVR-40 POT-45 STF-5 MOV-5 HRA-4 PBABIP-5 CON-5
The 21 year-old southpaw was drafted in the second round of this year's rookie draft. After two starts with the A-level Redwood City Rockets, Lawrence was promoted to the AA squad. Since then he has started three games where he has achieved an ERA of 1,99 and a WHIP of 1.06. Lawrence has fanned 19 batters in 22 innings. At this point, the Valencia faithful will be hoping to see Lawrence considered for the rotation when the 2065 season begins.
Sergio Valdes OVR-40 POT-40 STF-5 MOV-7 HRA-8 PBABIP-5 CON-4
Sergio came to the Valencia farm system as a result of a trade wiyh Vancouver involving Juan Garcia and Tyler Conklin last season. Sergio had a few hiccups at the beginning of this season in AAA garnering a 5.62 ERA and 1.69 WHIP in his 3 starts. After the 22 year-old was moved down to AA, Sergio enjoyed a little more success. With six starts under his belt in Jamestown, Sergio has an ERA of 3.02 and a WHIP of 1.30. The Valencia front office feels Sergio is a bump away from being a potential BBA-level commodity a few years down the road.
Jose Alaniz OVR-40 POT-40 STF-5 MOV-5 HRA-5 PBABIP-6 CON-5
Acquired in another trade with Vancouver involving Qing-lai Ou-Yang, the 18 year-old has quickly progressed to AA while in the Mounties farm system. Between the two clubs Jose has compiled a 5-5 record with a 3.59 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP. Although his ratings do not scream major league material at this point, he is young enough for the Stars' insiders to give Jose a close look. His future seems similar to that of Sergio.
Charlie Cross OVR-40 POT-40 STF-4 MOV-5 HRA-5 PBABIP-5 CON-6
A two-way player that was drafted in the second round of the 2060 draft. At 24 years old, Charlies bat and his arm are solid AA talent level but is in need of improvement if he is to advance. Charlie's 5.30 ERA over his 16 starts and his .260/.336 production at the plate with 10 homers may be enough to get him to AAA, but may fall short of getting to the big-league club.
Jaime Gallegos OVR-40 POT-40 STF-6 MOV-5 HRA-4 PBABIP-6 CON-4
The oldest pitcher in the starting rotation at 25 years old, Jaime is in his first full season in AA. Signed as a minor league free agent before the 2062 season in his second stint with Valencia, Jaime has just been moved into the starting rotation. The lefty currently has a 3-3 record with his only start being a 6-inning effort where he allowed one run on three hits. Like the previous two pitchers listed before him, Jaime will be in need of a bump to advance. Unfortunately, time may not be on his side.
