As the Rookie season has completed, it is now time for the Gas Monitors to determine which players are ones to follow during the off-season and in 2063 and look at their progress.
Ramon Lopez OVR - 20 POT – 40 STUFF 6/7 MOV – 4/5 CON- 3/4
Ramon pitched with the Rookie club in Russelville this season. The 17 year-old was selected in the 4th round of the 2062 draft. Ramon’s numbers for the season include a 3-1 record over 12 starts with a 2.61 ERA. Ramon struck out 56 batters in 62 innings of work while issuing 12 walks. When you add all the numbers together you also see a WHIP of 0.98 and a WAR of 1.3.
Ramon’s southpaw fastball tops out at 100 mph and has a 7 / 10 rating. Ramon also has a double digit potential slider along with a 9 potential Cutter to keep hitters guessing if he can develop to his potential. Ramon usually does a pretty good job of keeping the ball out of the air giving up 7 home runs in his 12 starts.
Ramon very well may be a candidate to go to the Dev Lab in the off-season to improve his control. Whether or not the long term plans with Valencia has Ramon as a starter or a reliever is anyone’s guess.
