Juan pitched with the Rookie club in Russelville this season. The 18 year-old was selected in the 10th round of the 2062 draft. While some of his ratings may not be the level to write home about, his numbers for the season were noteworthy.
Juan had a record of 3-1 with two saves being used primarily as a setup man. In 22 games covering 36 innings, Juan recorded 33 strikeouts on his way to a 1.98 ERA and a WHIP of 0.94
Juan has two forms of Kryptonite with his 2 rated control and a 1 / 4 rated home runs allowed. Juan gave up 10 walks in 36 innings. Over the season Juan gave up 8 runs but during that time he gave up 6 homers.
Juan is an extreme flyball pitcher which the Valencia brass usually shy away from, but his 101 mph fastball that has an 11/13 rating was too much for the Stars to pass up once it got to the 10th round.
