Can pitchers affect the mood of the team so much that it affects the offense when they take the mound?

Taking a look at the games for Valencia so far this season, one would have to wonder. While there are plenty of variables like who drew the short straw when the Stars play Portland and Sacramento (Garcia and Gonzalez had 3 while Turner had 4 while Dean had 0) and who pitched more on the road (Turner had 4, Bryant/Gonzalez each had 3 and Garcia had 2); there are some interesting slicing and dicing of the data when each starter takes the mound, regardless of when they leave it.

Here is a quick dive into the rotation and the data:

#1 Juan Garcia
#2 Thomas Turner
#3 Luis Gonzalez
#4 Jonathan Bryant
#5 Xavier Vargas / Peter Dean

Gonzalez gets double the run support than everyone except Turner. The defense for the season has only given up 5 unearned runs in 32 games while the starters are on the mound. Bryant has only given up 5 runs in 24 innings in his last 4 starts but the team went 0-4.

The sample size isn't overly large at this point as we are only 20% into the season, We will see if the trend continues.
