Galaxy Gas 2060.06 – Stars Sign Reliever Jeff Doane

In their first free agent signing of the off-season, the Stars signed right-handed reliever Jeff Doane.

Jeff has spent the last two seasons in Des Moines. He appeared in 51 games last season with an ERA of 3.62 while working 64 innings. Jeff will be counted on in the middle relief role. His record last year was 7-6 with 8 saves.

Jeff will be filling the bullpen slot left open by Johnny Rice who left for free agency. The Valencia front office feels the replacement is definitely an upgrade.

Details of the contract include a two year deal worth $1.8M per season. Given his 0.2 WAR last season, critics will say that this was an overpay of a contract but the Valencia front office is looking to add another adequate arm as they figure out their closer situation in 2060.
