For the second day in a row, Valencia and Vancouver squared off and for the second day in a row, the Stars came out with a win. With Bikini losing their contest, the Stars are within 3 games of the final wild card spot.
In the bottom of the first the Mounties scored a rub with a RBI double down the right-field line when Ziya Turkes was at the plate. The Stars answered with a run in the second inning when Mark Kimball hit a monstrous 499 foot shot over the centerfield wall.
In the Valencia half of the fourth inning, Mark Kimball and Kenny Blackwell hit back-to-back doubles with two outs. Tim Bartlett brought in another run with a single to right field. In the bottom of the fourth, the Mounties scored a run with a two-out single by Kent Landry to close the gap to 3-2.
The pitching on both sides closed down the scoring for the rest of the contest.
Mark Kimball led the Valencia bats with two hits in the winning cause for the Stars.
Xavier Vargas (13-12) gained the win while allowing 2 runs in 6.1 innings. Martin Roman notched his 37th save of the season. Tom Miller (4-11) allowed 3 runs over 6 innings on his way to receiving the loss.
