Galaxy Gas 2059.43 – Prospect Report Card – Bhadrasila Chetlapalli

With the minor league season completed, it is time to assess some of the Valencia top prospects.

Today’s edition will evaluate starting pitcher Bhadrasila Chetlapalli. The 18 year old was selected in this past amateur draft the second round with the 47th overall pick. The 6-foot, 175 pound right hander is originally from India was sent to the rookie club in Russelville after he was selected.

Bhad had a productive first season in the minors. His record was just 6-5 but that was more of a testament to the lack of offense in Russelville than Bhad’s pitching. Bhad allowed 0 or 1 run in 8 of his 14 starts averaging just under 6 innings per outing. If ball control is your thing, you would be delighted because Bhad only issued 4 walks in 77 innings of work. He issued only 1 free pass over his last 39.2 innings.

On the flip side, Bhad had 53 K’s over the season but he allowed 6 home runs. His overall ERA for the season was 2.09 with a WHIP of 0.99 that resulted in a WAR calculation of 2.3.

When asked what his favorite pre-game meal was, Bhad replied “I like a good gyro sandwich with crinkle-cut French fries and a Mountain Dew.”

Bhad is expected to be promoted to the Short Eason A club next season. His grade for this season is a B+.
