Galaxy Gas 2059.39 – Stars Lose in 15 innings

While Bikini is riding a 7-game losing streak, the Stars have won 4 of their last 5 and were hoping to continue that trend. Another win would put Valencia dead even with Bikini for the final wild card spot. It would take 15 innings to determine the outcome of this one and unfortunately the Stars came out on the short end of the stick by a score of 6 to 5.

Things started out well for the Stars as they built a 4-0 lead going into the 7th inning stretch on a RBI double by Carlos Schumann in the 4th, a solo homer by Koray Kapkin in the 5th and a 2-run shot in the top of the 7th by Habib bin Ameen. Ruben Vazquez was showing glimpses of his old self allowing 2 baserunners through the first 6 innings. But then the roof caved in.

In the home half of the 7th inning, the Krill tallied 4 runs on a 2-run shot by Roger Kidd and a 2-run double by Pedro Jimenez.

The score stayed knotted at 4 until the top of the 11th inning when Kevin Lambert hit a home run with nobody on to make the score 5-4. However, Napoleon Mellot hit a solo shot of his own on a full count after fouling off 4 full count pitches.

The madness finally ended in the 15th when Graham Aubry hit a one-out single to right field to drive in the final run.

Enrique Aguilar (4-7) gained the win in relief while Greg Jackson (4-3) garnered the loss.
