VALENCIA STARS: Off Season # 1

Post by leejay56 » Tue Dec 27, 2011 9:52 pm

The Stars have had a very unusal off season..First the Stars let go future HOF'er OF Gary Barr so the Stars can use that money for some FA and fill a few holes...Well the Stars had offers on 10 free agents but for the first time ever no signings...So off to plan B, make a few trades....

TRADE 1 The Chicago Black Sox made a deal sending 29-year-old shortstop George Bellairs..Bellairs will come over and start as there new SS this season...He has good tools in allot of catagories and after last season the stars needed to make a few changes...Bellairs's all-time stats include: 932 hits, 173 doubles, 37 triples, 111 home runs and 441 RBIs in 1023 games. He is batting .252 with 138 stolen bases and has scored 580 runs. Off to the Black Sox 23-year-old minor league shortstop Duncan Harvey and 23-year-old minor league shortstop Manuel López..
Both sides are said to be pleased with the way the trade worked out.

TRADE 2 With the Bellairs deal the writing was on the wall with 33 year old SS Maddux Vaughn..Vaughn who has spent 7 good years with the Stars knew he would be the reserve and the Stars traded him to the Suns where he can start...During his career Vaughn is hitting .293 with a total of 187 home runs...The Stars recieved 1B Hector Ruiz..Ruiz who never really had a chance playing with the Suns will take over at 1B..The Stars feel he could be a .300 to .320 hitter with 20 homeruns player...At 26 he will be the starting 1B for many years....

The Stars still have a few players that could be dealt, starting will stud SP Phil Leftwich and slugging 1B Dave Reilly...Also there are some rumors that power hitting 2B Mack Randall has had some interest in a few deals too....
