Valencia Stars Report: 81-81 (.500) # 6

Post by leejay56 » Tue Jul 08, 2014 9:05 pm

The Stars end up the season with a .500 record going 81-81..The Stars over the last two years have had so many injuries, ratings drop, that have really effected there one time good offence team that they could only get 81 wins this season...The pitching on the other hand was pretty solid all year long and should do well next season...

Catcher Jason Dunn had a fantastic year this season..Dunn was named offensive player of the year... Dunn carried the Stars this season with a .320 batting average, 193 hits in 149 games, 33 doubles, 45 homers and drove in 113 runs...Dunn ended up with a 7.8 WAR making this his best season with the Stars...Last year Dunn hit .256 29 homers in an off year with the Stars....

Some other Stars who did well were, 1B Vicente Medrano who's .277 batting average and 150 hits were second most on the Stars, Leftfielder Bob Goodwin who hit his 300th homerun of his career this year and ended up with a .251 27 homers and 80 RBI season....Goodwin was picked up after the season as a FA and played in 143 games for the Stars...Goodwin at 35 will become a FA again as he wanted a major 4 year deal with the Stars to resign him..The Stars didn't feel a 4 year deal with Goodwin would not be good for them....

Last offensive player that had a solid year was Outfielder Cecil Bradley who hit .262 with 21 homers and drove in 63 runs...This was Bradley best power year with the Stars....

Glad you finished a game better than me.... You know, for those draft pick purposes.

Man, I wish I had a catcher as close to as good as Dunn is...
