Valencia Stars Report: 34-30 (.531) # 4

Post by leejay56 » Wed Jun 11, 2014 9:40 pm

The Stars had a terrific May, going 20-8 and now trail California by 5 games and Chicago by one game for the wild card slot....The reason for May's winning streak was the pitching. Before May, the team ERA was 10th overall and now with a team ERA of 3.75 that is 2nd overall in the JL...

The Stars brought up there 2013 number one pick pitcher, Skip Glendenning..Glendenning before this season when he was sent to AAA had a terrible minor league career...From 2013 to 2015 Glendenning won a total of 6 games and lost 34 games. His average ERA was in the mid 5.00. Glendenning started off the 2016 year at San Jose - AAA and looked like a totally different pitcher...In game starting he was 4-1, pitched 49 innings, had 53 K's and had an ERA of 2.19...With the Stars pen falling the scouts said he was ready and he was brought up as a middle relief pitcher. So far in 6 games he has logged in 11 innings, walked 2, 15 K's and has a 1.59 ERA...Great start for Glendenning. The big question is Glendenning going to start...

The May streak was done with out all star 3B Kevin Minuso. Minuso was hitting .344 with a OBP of .455 for the Stars leadoff hitter...The Stars are excited to have him back....
