Valencia Stars Report: 6-12 (.333) # 2

Post by leejay56 » Sat May 31, 2014 6:11 pm

The Stars season is going horrible so far....The offense and pitching are both at the bottom so far this season....

The bullpen ERA is 6.54 the first few weeks of the season with the starting pitching is at 5.11 ERA...Without the Stars pitching its going to be a long season....

The Valencia Stars were jolted today by some terrible news -- Jared Delger baseball career has come to an end as the result of a concussion. The club's GM told reporters, "We were all stunned. Injuries are a part of the game, but you never get used to this kind of devastating news." The Stars left fielder was injured today colliding with a player at home plate in a game against the Hawaii Tropics.
In Delger short career his career batting average was .266 92 homers and 321 RBI'S...In 2014 Delger hit .322 27 homers and drove in 82 runs....

In the last two seasons the Stars now have lost Delger and Travis Cantrell whose bat has slumped big time and was designated for assignment and placed on waivers. If he clears waivers maybe he can get his swing back in the minors....The Stars loosing two big bats has really hurt the offense...

The only positive news on the offensive side the Stars picked up free agent Outfielder Bob Goodwin to a one year 4 million dollar deal....Goowin signing was suppose to be just an extra bat but now the signing in really important this season for the Stars...In Godwins first 9 games he hit .258 4 doubles, 3 homers, and 5 RBI'S....
