Juan Evans has just been promoted from the AA Jamestown team up to the AAA Mars squad. The first=round pick from this year's draft continues to show promise during his first year within the Valencia farm system.
This move will result in the former AAA closer Steve Wauchope being moved to the Setup role. The 30 year-old Wauchope has done an admirable job to date earning 18 saves in 37 appearances with a 2.89 ERA. With Juan being at 19 years-old, the back end of the bullpen will definitely look a lot younger.
After pitching in five scoreless outings in A ball, Juan proceeded to AA where he collected 12 saves in 20 appearances. Juan's numbers in AA were not as impressive with an ERA of 4.12 and a WHIP of 1.46 but those numbers were inflated by a two-inning/45 pitch outing where he gave up 3 runs and allowed 7 baserunners.
From a development perspective, Juan's Stuff rating has increased from 9 up to 12 over the course of this season with his Overall Rating climbing from 40 up to 50.
Juan at this point is looking to be paired in the bullpen with current closer Dave Furman once the 2064 season begins. Between his time at the A and AA level, Juan has not blown a save in 16 opportunities.
