Entering into season 3 under the current Valencia GM, it looks like Valencia has achieved his first objective. That objective is getting the finances in order to the point that the club has $20M to begin the season..

The financial update given by their lead consultant, Abbi Cuss, shows that the needle of the coffers is all the way at the full marking. Although the cash in game is maxed out at $20M, the Bonus Fund account is slightly above $0 after the stadium fees have been deducted.

Tracking the progress, the checkbook ledger at the beginning of 2059 showed $9M in the red in addition to being upside down on the stadium dues of roughly $1.7M. At the same point of the 2060 season, the in-game cash was roughly $11M prior to the initial season ticket sales coming in with the bonus cash being evened out at $0.

Unlike 2059, the Stars were active in the 2060 IFA circuit to the tune of $4.1M. Prospects icked included CF Quentin Belgrove and C Titus Vasdeki. Quentin hit .274 with a .329 on-base percentage while swiping 28 bases in the Rookie league. Meanwhile, Titus hit .225/.308 while playing above average defense behind the plate. The development budget for 2061 has been increased from $2.5M to $4M as part of the effort to invest in Valencia’s future.

On the down side, Valencia still has another year left in the Ruben Vazquez contract as he exercised his $10.5M player option for 2061. Another boat anchor contract inherited by the current front office is that of Habib bin Ameen which was another player option for $8.2M. Combining these two contracts effectively eats up $18.7M of the Stars’ payroll with little to no return (combined WAR of -1.2).

Prior to any off-season roster moves, Valencia is projected to clear $7M in 2061.

Navigating financial issues and still competing is always kind of fun.
