Galaxy Gas 2059.16 - Valencia 2059 Draft Rounds 1-5

Post by DugoutDesperado » Tue May 21, 2024 2:57 pm

Th 2059 Rookie draft class for the Valencia Stars has been unveiled. This year’s class includes 9 pitchers, 3 catchers, 4 outfielders, 3 first basemen and a middle infielder.

Going into the 10th round, the Stars GM got called away from the Valencia headquarters to go to Shipshewana for a volleyball tournament so the AI took over for the second half of the draft.

Here is a brief introduction of the first five players selected.
P Ernesto Escalante was selected with the 13th pick in the first round. He was considered to be in the top 10 rankings wise but was still available when Valencia’s number came up. There are quite a few risks with this pick as Ernesto is just getting ready to turn 17, has questionable durability and has been said to have a low work ethic. In the end, the Stars GM thought it was too much talent to overlook.
P Bhadrasila Chetapalli – In the second round the Stars went with another pitcher. Bhad has four pitches in his arsenal that resulted in 31 K’s over 25 innings of work in the college ranks. He ranks out slightly above average in control and is projected to be a borderline back of the rotation starter.
LF Julio Sanchez – The third round pick went through the evaluation as an able glove in left field while having a good mix of getting the bat on the ball with a little bit of power. Julio hit .377 with 17 HRs in college last season.
LF Kyoichi Suzuki – He is similar to Julio but without the power. Look for Kyoichi to be in the opposite field from Julio if they play at the same level.
C Porter Ebert- The fifth round selection is solid all the way around but not outstanding at anything to this point. Seems to be slated as a .260 type hitter with 12-15 home run potential and an average arm behind the plate.

The remainder of the people drafted include:
1B Ken Hall
1B Gabriel Bacaloglu
P Pedro Guevara
P Jose Clevenger
C Jorge Lopez
C Juan Gutierrez
P Julio Gasaway
LF Ch’ak’Oso Ametefe
P Garry Hansen
P Octavio Martinez
2B Sadakuno Sugana
P Ricardo Lopez
RF Al Moran
P Luis Silva
1B Christopher Pierides
