The had another 5-5 week as the season winds down next week...They just underperformed this year and hopefully with a few changes the Stars will be back again next season....

2B Mack Randall hit his 300th career homer.
Randall got his name in the league record books with 1 hit, 4 runs batted in, scored 2 runs and his team, the Valencia Stars beat the Chicago Black Sox 10-2. In Randall career he is batting .277 with 302 home runs and 1005 RBIs in 1,815 games....Randall now 33 still figures to have a few more good years and its possible that he will end up with 400 homers...

With one week left closer Marty Powers has 294 saves and looks like when he retires he will end up short of the 300 career save mark...Powers now 40 announced that he will retire at the end of this season...

Starting Catcher Doug Flowers is out the last few weeks of this year with a slight injury [ bad sprained ankle]..The Stars looking for a backup catcher for next season as backup Antwan Patton the last 2 years has really slummped hitting .225 and .240 the last few years...So the Stars called up 28 year old vet Montes Mendosa..Mendosa in his first week did well hitting .345 with one homer and 7 RBIS...Patton has 12 rbi's and 24 hits all year so the 7 rbi's and 10 hits in the first week could give Mendosa a lshot at the Stars backup catcher next season...Mendosa will start the final 9 games for the Stars....
