Washington
September 1

Despite a grand slam home run by Washington's Byrd in the 9th, Hawai'i exited
the continental capital winning 3 of 4 from the Bobwhites, prevailing in today's
game, 10-7.

Pat Clark, fresh off the DL, hit two home runs against Washington starter Bromley,
who allowed 5 runs on 6 walks and 4 extra base hits. 2b Hank Felicetti doubled and
tripled off of Bromley.

LF Niguel Halime hit a three-run moon shot off reliever Cleveland in the
5th and the Hawaiians scored two more in the 6th to stake Josh Noble to a 10-1 lead.

Noble exited after 7 with a 10-2 lead, having struck out 8. The bullpen almost done
him in.

Daniels allowed a run in the bottom of the 8th and Michael Duran gave up the grand
slam in the 9th. Luiz Sachse recorded the final two outs for his 27th save (10th for
Hawai'i.).

"I tell y'all what," Hoot said, "That's exactly why Michael's been in the bull pen all
season. He gives up too many dingers."

Clark's dingers were his 21st and 22nd after sitting a month with a hamstring strain.
Halime's was his 5th for Hawai'i and 2nd in 3 games.

Noble is now 8-3 for the Tropics. Nobel, Sachse, and Felicetti were all acquired two
months ago today in the Birmingham trade.

Hawai'i continues its 13-game road trip tomorrow with the first of 2 in Atlantic City,
followed by 2 in Carolina and 3 in New Orleans.

Wave Watchers have noted that Hawaii's best chance to finish with its first winning
season since 1998 would be to take advantage of playing such teams on this
swing through the south.
