
Hawaii Tropics Rookie DH Vicente ‘Yogi’ Martinez led all Brewster Baseball Association players in All Star voting receiving 37 votes to represent the Frick League as the DH. Martinez leads the league in homers, OBP, Slug, OPS, Total Bases, EBH, ISO, OPS+ and wOBA. He is the front runner for Frick League Gilstrom. There’s still a lot of time left in the season, but the young slugger is Top 10 on most league leader boards.
Trops CF Carlos Sanchez was selected by Nashville Bluebirds GM Chad Nason to back up CF vote winner Lou Bayou. Sanchez is at the prime of his career now and is putting up some consistent numbers. This is his 2nd All Star game and first since 2060.
In the Frick League Futures Game selections, Hawaii sent two players to represent the Trops. C Bob Webb and 3B Harry Surface. Webb is slashing .252/.377/.336 with 4 homers and 1 WAR and Surface is on the IL but posted a slash line of .322/.400/.508 with 7 homers and 1.6 WAR in 177 at bats.
