The Hawaii Tropics take down the Brownies in Game 1 with a couple of homers on offense and some clutch pitching late to get the win. Carlos Schumann was 1 for 3 with a three-run homer (5) in the 4th inning to lead the team. Rookie Vicente ‘Yogi’ Martinez crushed his 20th of the season in the 5th off Oscar O’Halloran.
Slobodan Omeragic has been walking a fine line all season with the Tropics and knows that his time in Hawaii me be short. Gheorghe Sollomovici is close to a return from the IL and Omeragic is the odd man out as it stands. He made the start against Brook Park throwing 49 pitches before leaving with a back injury. He allowed a run on three hits, three walks and a K in a no decision. Reynaldo Trinidad earned the win with two innings of work allowing a solo homer with two Ks. Utkan Gocek earned a cheap, one out save for his 7th of the season.

The Brook Park Brownies evened the series with Hawaii as they hammered Trops starter Daniel Thornton for four runs on five hits in 3.2 innings. They continued their onslaught against reliever Ricardo Sanchez by putting up three runs on three hits and a walk in just 2/3 of an inning of work.
Rookie Roberto Lopez hit his 1st career homer against Brownies reliever You-cheng Hang in the 7th inning with a two-run blast. Carlos Schumann was 3 for 4 with a double (8), stole a base (13), scored a run and drove in one.

Hawaii’s winning formula come through again with solid pitching on the mound and slugging at the plate to go up on the Brownies 2-1 in the series. Semih Gurani began the game with four scoreless innings giving up just a hit, walked one and struck out two in 4.1 innings. Harry Edwards earned the win after allowing a run on three hits in 1.1 innings. The bullpen put up zeroes in the run column for the final 3.1 innings with Westbrooks pitching the final two innings for his 7th save.
Vicente Martinez hit his 21st homer in the 4th inning and Carlos Sanchez hit his 7th homer in the 7th inning. Sanchez drove in his second run on the game with a sac fly. Schumann was 2 for 4 with a double (9) and an RBI.

Th Tropics earn the series win with a six-hit combined shut out of the Brownies at ‘Iolani Palace. Martin ‘Lumps’ Garcia began the festivities with 4.2 scoreless innings giving up just four hits and fanning three batters. Alex Garcia pitched two innings allowing just a hit with three Ks to earn the win and Cale Cote earned a one-out save for his 1st of the season.
Vicente Martinez was 2 for 4 with is 21st homer, a double (15) and scored two runs but was also caught stealing (1). Schumann was 1 for 3 and scored a run while Armando Medina was 2 for 4 with a double (13) and a ribbie.
The Tropics win the series 3-1.
