Hawaii stopper Bob Westbrooks gives up two runs in the top of the 9th to the Sluggers and is tagged with his 2nd blown save. The Sluggers bullpen set the Tropics down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning to send the game into extras. The bats went silent in the 10th but then Louisville pushed a run across in the 11th. That didn’t last long as the Trops tied it up on a solo homer (6) by Mitch Wareham.

In the 12th, Harry Edwards set down the first two batters before handing the ball to Marty Pearce. Pearce walked a batter but struck out the next hitter to end the inning. The Trops offense looked ready to go down without a fight with a fly out and a 5-3 ground out. But a rally formed when John Harris singled followed by single by Jeff Appleton. Carlos Sanchez didn’t waste any time as he laced the first pitch he saw to left scoring Harris from second with the game winner.
